[Another day, another patrol! Nothing crazier than usual has happened lately to get May "Mayday" Parker tangled into Avengers or Fantastic Five level crises and most of her big villains have been quiet lately, leaving her to be able to focus on the more neighborly, friendly part of being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Girl.

Which is definitely easy when she catches sight of a crime in progress.

It's not all that hard to sneak up onthe would be thief.]

Didn't anyone tell you it's not nice to take other people's toys?

[ Flynn is a smart guy. A modern thief for a modern world. Sure, he pinches purses and wallets and the occasional watch (when he can spot one fancy enough,) but minor stuff isn't the kind of thing worth risking your neck over. The risk of people seeing you just isn't worth it.

Which is why he's moved up to atms and bank accounts-- things that can't scream for help or alert the police as long as you set up the right backups. That's... what he normally does, really. This time it's a bigger job, though. Jewels for some rich CEO, that's all it was, but the money was enough to have him set for life, maybe buy his own place on the upper east side.

Then he had to go and get spotted on his way out of the place. Dark alleyways don't usually house anything besides criminals at this time of night-- why, of all things, did he have to run into a superhero? He was so close to getting out without any trouble, too. ]

Well, I don't know about you, but I never really played with jewelry as a kid. I mean, you're a girl, so maybe-- uh, not that guys can't, obviously...

[ Flynn turns around, hands in the air. He doesn't want any trouble... if he can help it. Talking is just what happens when his nerves start to run.

He shrugs. He'll get out of this somehow. Hopefully. ]

So, uh... slow night?

[She's almost impressed by how much he's putting his foot in his mouth like that! You know, besides the sexist comment. At least he backpedaled.]

Slow? On a night like this?

[Actually he's lucky he's not having this encounter with, say, Darkdevil. Who can definitely be on the brutal side. Or even Ladyhawk.

She's watching for any sign of a getaway. In the meantime, she uses some webbing to try and pull the stolen jewelry away from him. If he knows better, he won't try to resit it.]

Slow, like... you know. Stealing isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things, right?

[ A little sleight of hand and Flynn is pocketing the jewels, all while looking like he's tossing them in his bag instead. Which works out perfectly when Spider-Girl decides to give em a swipe. Jewels or no, he still acts like losing his bag is a pretty big deal. Which naturally means he tries to keep her from yanking it away. ]

Woah, hey--! I worked my butt off for these! Don't I at least get points for trying?

[That bag seems awfully light. But she's not exactly going to let him off easy.]

Sorry, you don't get points for being a thief. Or trying to rationalize it as being not so bad. I'm pretty sure that actually makes it worse, in fact.

Aw, come on. I gotta eat, you know?

[ Flynn looks neither starved nor particularly desperate. Stealing is a lucrative business when you're good at it. Most people would release their bounty upon encountering a superhero. Meanwhile Flynn here is gonna keep trying to be slick.

It's probably not working in your favor, man. ]

Plus, who's this hurt? You know the price of these is all some con by jewelry makers, right? It's all inflation. The real people victims are the ones who drop a few grand for a gold band and a shiny rock.
